A Quarter of All Workplace Vehicle Deaths Happen During Reversing

Every year, UK workplaces see thousands of accidents involving vehicles. The Main Causes of Moving Vehicle Accidents at Work

Falls from Height

Poor Driver Training and Competence

Why Reversing Is So Dangerous

Reversing is hazardous because it strips away much of a driver's visibility and reaction time. Blind spots grow, pedestrians are harder to spot, and communication between the driver and anyone guiding the vehicle becomes critical.

HSE recommends several controls specifically for reversing risk, including:

  • Removing the need to reverse altogether through one-way systems.
